Foolproof fix for phones with water damage
Saving your wet cell has never been easier!
Saving your wet cell has never been easier!
The answer? Quick reflexes and rice! Any rice will do. Quick reflexes help save the cellular in time and rice absorbs the water.

I learnt this from my 10 year old sister yesterday. My little dinosaur of a brother dunked my Blackberry into a bucket full of water. I really thought it was over. So, when Sisi suggested I bury it in rice, I scoffed (silly me), but tried. I took the berry apart (battery, sim, front and back cover), and tossed it into some Jasmine. I took it out at about an hour and a half later. The red light for indicating water damage stared back at me and the screen flashed the on page for a bit and then...black. Nothing. My face caved in at that point. Luckily I decide to try again and this time overnight. I took it out about an hour ago today and voila it worked! I honestly thought it was gonners considering it's a Blackberry. It was worth saving, because I had stored numerous memos with notes I rely on to organise and enrich my life.
Yesterday was all doom and gloom and today is just sunflowers and perfume. My gem came back to life and I wanted to share this with you. So, just in case this happens to you : you're not to lose hope and do try resuscitate that sucker with rice! Trust, it will come back to life.
Tips and warnings:
♥ Make sure to take out your battery and sim to avoid damaging them. The quicker the reaction the better your phones chances of survival.
♥ Also, dry pat the precious as soon as you rescue it from drowning and before you bury it in rice.
♥ Do not use your hairdryer to dry out your phone - you'd be frying it. Use a dry cloth.
♥ Resist the temptation to switch it on as soon as you realize what's happened. Follow the advice and as early as 24 hours later, you may test out your device.
YESSS! This has saved me sooo many times.
ReplyDeleteI think the trick is really to just turn the phone off! Water is harmless to electronics when everything is shut off but when it's turned on it can really fry/short out the device. The rice is perfect to dry it out though. When this happens, I definitely let my phone dry out for like 48-72 hrs.
