Lipidol's Cleansing Face Oil Review
In my previous post: My skincare regimen, I promised to try out Lipidol's range. I didn't expect to be reviewing their Cleansing Face Oil this soon as I had other posts penciled in. All the same, I'm grateful for the opportunity to do so. In My skincare regimen, I talked about how apprehensive I was to trying their range, because it seemed heavily laden with ingredients a wannabe green girl like me would much rather avoid. Usually, If I can't find 'natural' products (which happens way too often for my liking), I will opt for a product that is gentle yet effective. So when Lauren from Lipidol reached out to me, and one of the many points she highlighted about the product was how gentle yet effective it was, it made me want to try their Cleansing Face Oil even more!
Lipidol is made by Evolabs - the same guys who brought us the pregnant-ladies-go-to, every-stretch-mark-fearing-teenage-girl's bestfriend: Bio-Oil. I thought Lipidol was brand spanking new, so you can imagine how shocked I was to discover that not only are they backed by the country's best skincare lab, but that it took them a total of 7 years to even think about launching the product range! So you know you can trust to at least try them out for yourself.
The Cleansing Face Oil is said to remove dirt and and make-up without stripping the skin's natural oily layer. On Friday night, I caked my face with layers of make-up to check that, and it came right off without leaving that painfully naked-to-the-subcutaneous-layer feeling. I love that cleansing oils double up as make-up removers as well, because before the discovery I relied on the only product I'll ever use from Clinique - their Take the day off cleansing balm (which I'm now out of). I'm not sure if it's still available in South Africa, but I got mine from Stuttafords in 2011/12 and have since received it as a gift from travelling loved ones.

It's best used when applied to a dry face. So don't splash your face with aqua to try it. Make sure your hands are dry too, otherwise that defeats the purpose of applying it dry doesn't it? Splash with aqua only after you've massaged it in. The oil will emulsify to form a watery cream. Rinse off when done.
♥ Scent: Like how I imagine cherubs would smell - heavenly. A hint of relaxing and earthy rosemary is such a pleasant surprise.
♥ Texture: As oily as facial oil can be - well only initially. I prefer it this way. Cleanses the skin with each swab without coating your face with unwanted excess oil to forever in the next. It leaves your face refreshed and nourished whilst leaving room for the next steps in your skincare system.
♥ Effectiveness? Especially good at removing both make-up and build up after an effed up Monday.
Comes in 125 mls. R79.99 a pop, as do all products from their range. Available at selected Clicks stores across the country. The Lipidol range consists of two wash off and four leave on products; the Cleansing Face Oil and Cleansing Body Oil, an After Shower Oil, Sunscreen Oil (SPF 20), Overnight Face Oil and After Shave Oil - to supplement the skin’s oily layer to help it retain its moisture.
Add this to your laundry list of beauty buys for a fresh start to the week!
