Skip's Fashion Exchange
Sorry for you guys who are still planning on heading to this month's Skip Fashion Exchange. The event has already taken place! Luckily for me, I was there. I have always wanted to attend the event. I was curious to see how glammed up it would be. I thought it'd be terribly wonderful to see what kind of people would come out of the woodwork for this one. Bloggers love to hype things, and so many kept going on and oooon about past SFEs on social media that I absolutely had to go. I needed my own opinion on this one, and my expectations were outrageously high. Also, I was not going to use my own money for the experience. I don't like to use my money on things I'm not sure about. The last time I did so, on a whim, I spent my last R250 on Ladybloggers Walnut Grove. For that amount all they fed us was cake and sponsored Bos ice-tea. I was upset! Don't call it an event if there's no food! Have you not seen the Snickers ad my darling?! The foodie in me is my evil doppelganger and you don't want to meet her...
Two days before the event I received an evite from Jill Snyman. Just like the one above. Instead it said "you're invited"of course. This is the shout out bit of the post, because Jill is too fabulous not to mention. At the event she ushered my plus one and I in like they royals we are, and she seemed so authentic about it. This all happened a week after I entered a competition on Leanne's blog: arumlilea.blogspot.com. All I had to do was say how I follow her blog. I commented: "Oh my gosh I just love your blog so much. I got hold of your business card when I still worked at Jo Malone and you left it with us. I went on to follow you on twitter,instagram and bloglovin. Im grateful that I use instagram to follow you because that's how I got to know that your new post was up. Yay!!" We met up at the event which was nice. She's so sweet. I wasn't smart enough to get snapped with her though, as that would have helped the album that I've collated here.
Bonang was hostess with the mostess second year in a row after covering the Sunglass Hut affair around the same time just last year. I was there too. Guess what? I won tickets to that event as well. Have a look at how things turned out here. She brought her bubbly self on the night and made us turn up at Urban tree. I did see her mean streak come out though, when she poked fun at Jess who battled articulating herself on the night. Stage fright what a plight right? Queen B made fun of the fact that Jess said faux fur was resort. I spoke to Jess after the show. She's endearing, open and self-assured.
While others went for haute couture. I went for the collegiate look. I suppose my friend here sported an array of themes so we'll go with eclectic for her then?
And the food? Ooooooh the food! The starter was great to start. The main was so yurrrrmay. The couscous in particular rocked my world. The lamb cutlets could have been orgasmic had they not been so darn raw. Yes raw not rare! Okay I kid, but they were so tough. I'm sure it was mutton and not lamb. The dessert? I wanted to take it home. They made smores in 'biscuity' cups. Delicious! I wanted to jump for joy when I first laid my eyes on them. I want! I want! More I say! They kept the drinks coming too. Sheer abundance of all things fancy.
On arrival we had;
A selection of sushi and fashion sandwhiches with wasabi and soy
Crispy prawn wontons with sweet chilli dip (ultimate favourite)

Twice baked Danish feta soufflé served with micro greens and
Toasted brie and honey bruschetta

A selection of mini desserts
Date crème brullee tartlets
Grape and hazelnut tartlets
Lemon meringue tartlets
Macaroons
After din din we were given the chance to shop from people's three items closets. I didn't come out with much. The garmet evaluation process was well thought out because you couldnt come out with a Prada if you came in with a Mr. Price. Items were tiered accordingly. I got a Zara skirt and handed in my Jo Borkett pink oversized bag.

Thanks to Akosua we were all able to enjoy ourselves thoroughly. There wouldn't be a #skipfashionexchange event without her. Oh and Skip of course.
Love it! xx
